two goals in two games for Lane Hutson

While the reconstruction of the Montreal Canadiens continues to progress, as evidenced by yesterday’s victory against the powerful Boston Bruins, other prospects who are not yet with the club continue to perform.

Here are the notable performances of the CH hopefuls this weekend.

Lane Hutson – left-handed defenseman – 19 years old

Obviously we’re going to talk about Hutson because he was great this weekend as well.

The CH prospect, who needs no further introduction, scored twice in two games this weekend, taking his total to eight this season in nine games.

This brings him 11 points (eight goals and three assists) in nine games.

Scoring goals at this rate for a defender is simply impressive.

Here’s his goal yesterday, scored on the power play in Boston University’s 6-1 win against University of Massachusetts Lowell.

And here’s his goal on Friday after a great pass from another CH hopeful, Luke Tuch, in a 3-2 win against the same university.

These are some really good goals scored by Hutson, especially that power play goal yesterday.

Hutson moves quickly and dangerously to the top of the slot before taking a wrist shot.

In short, a real natural marker.

Only three players (or three forwards) under the age of 20 have more goals than Hutson this season.

It’s impressive.

We are all very much looking forward to seeing him in Montreal.

Luke Tuch – Left winger – 21 years old

Here’s another CH prospect at BU (Boston University) having a good start to the season.

After being quite disappointing in terms of his production the last two seasons, Tuch finally seems to take off in his senior year in the NCAA.

The CH prospect, who was seen as a solid prospect at the time of the draft, quickly fell into obscurity due to injuries and low production.

But this season he rose from the ashes and showed that he still has great potential.

In two games this weekend (the same two as Hutson) Tuch had four assists (two in each game).

One of his passes also allowed Jack Hughes, son of CH managing director Kent Hughes, to score his first goal in the new colours. Hughes now has three points in eight games.

This brought his total number of points to 12 (four goals and eight assists) in 10 games.

This is a great start to the season, very encouraging for Tuch.

He has already surpassed his point total from the 2021-2022 season. (10 points in 26 games), and only eight points behind last season’s (20 points in 40 games).

In short, it’s a good thing to see Tuch doing like this, as he represents the style of player that CH may need in the future.

Let’s see how his move to the pros goes at the end of the season if CH offers him a contract.
