“Cole (Caufield) hid my helmet,” Struble said, bursting into laughter. I didn’t plan to do this. »

Recalled from the Laval Rockets on Monday, Struble played in his first NHL game two days later. Dad, mom and brother traveled to California to experience this big moment.

After the first performance, I had the feeling that it was a match like any other, said the American. But when you look at the other team’s players, you see guys you’ve been watching on TV for a long time. It can be a little scary, but it was a hockey game after all. »

In the morning, Struble said he expected to see his mother very emotional for this game against the Ducks.

“I haven’t had time to talk to her yet, but I can imagine she was very happy,” he said. I can’t wait to see my parents. »

Good start

Struble controlled his emotions well for the first match. Used on the left side of Gustav Lindström, CH’s second-round pick played a simple game and used his speed to run several times into opposing territory.

“I liked his match,” said Martin St-Louis. He is a good skater and is able to play physically. He didn’t look like he was uncomfortable. »

“For a guy playing for the first time in the NHL, he was very good,” defenseman Mike Matheson added. I thought he played very well. »

Struble finished the match with a score of 11:20.
