For every player, the first goal in the NHL is unforgettable.
Young striker Buffalo Sabres scored his first goal in the Bettman Circle in his ninth game after a magnificent first period feint. As he was approaching the net, a puck passed between his legs and landed on the ice. Darcy Kuemper and Benson skillfully placed the disc in the upper section.
The 13th overall pick in the last draft has already had four assists since his NHL debut. His net then made it 2-0 Sabers as teammate JJ Peterka opened the scoring midway through the first period.
Before returning to the dressing room, Alexander Alekseev cut the Sabers’ lead to one goal, also with his first career goal.
