Defenseman Samuel Girard scored his first goal of the season in the Colorado Avalanche’s convincing 8-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday night at the Ball Arena.
It was the Quebecer who opened the scoring in the first period. After a good attempt by Tomas Tatar to keep the puck in the opponent’s territory, Girard moved towards the net and took advantage of the return ball and put the precious object in the net.

Born in Roberval, he was also complicit in the success of Joel Kiviranta. Other scorers for the Avs were Valeri Nichushkin (twice), Devon Toews, Andrew Cogliano, Ross Colton and Frederik Olofsson. Cale Makar collected three assists.
Only five Avalanche skaters failed to score at least one point in this matchup, including forward Jonathan Drouin.
