Four months ago, the Toronto Blue Jays unveiled plans to renovate the lower portion of the Rogers Centre.
Pictures of the stadium being renovated are currently circulating on the Internet. What was just a few months ago a baseball field now looks like nothing less than a huge construction site.
The demolition of the buildings lasted from October 13 to 26. Field-level excavation took place from Oct. 23 to Nov. 6, according to Sportsnet.
According to Team Canada’s announcement in July, the goal of this renovation is to create a more enjoyable baseball experience for spectators.
“By renovating the 100-level seating section, we are offering an authentic Blue Jays game viewing experience,” organization president Mark Shapiro said this summer.
This work is supposed to be the second phase of the reconfiguration plan, which started last year with the outfield. The amphitheater should be ready for the start of the main baseball season in 2024.
