He failed to pull off a miracle against the third-best team in the East on Monday to alleviate a rough start to the season for the Oilers, who lost their second straight game. They are 2-2 since Kris Knoblauch took over the team on November 12th.

In the defeat, Cale Makar participated in all three goals of his team in this game. The star defenseman became the 12th defenseman in history to score at least three points in three different games in the same season. Makar achieved the feat in only 17 small matches.
Valeri Nichuskin had a goal and an assist, while Nathan MacKinnon was involved in two of his teammates’ goals. Andrew Cogliano and Devon Toews were the other scorers in the Avalanche camp.
Juuse Saros stopped 25 pucks and ended a five-game losing streak. The Finn has not tasted victory since October 28. Aleksandar Georgiev made 26 saves.
The stars bring the Rangers back to earth
Roope Hintz led the charge with three points, and the Dallas Stars defeated the New York Rangers 6-3 in a matchup of two NHL powers. New York has collected at least one point in its last 11 games.
Joe Pavelski, Mason Marchment and Tyler Seguin scored a goal and an assist in this match.
The Rangers took a 2-0 lead with goals from Vincent Trocheck and Kaapo Kakka. Jamie Benn scored for the Stars late in the second to cut the lead to one goal.
Dallas then exploded with five unanswered goals in the final period. However, with a 4-2 lead, empty net goals from Sam Steel and Hintz put the game out of reach for the Rangers. Barclay Goodrow scored with 16 seconds left to make it 6-3 for the Stars.
Scott Wedgewood scored the win by stopping 30 pucks. Igor Šesterkin also recorded 30 saves, but gave up four times in the Texans’ attack.
For the Rangers, Artemi Panarin went without a goal for the first time this season, scoring at least one point in his team’s first 15 games, a Rangers record at the start of the season.
The Stars used this game to announce that Mike Modano will be honored near the American Airlines Center. The statue of the team’s former star will be unveiled on March 16. Modano will join Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki, who also has a statue of him outside the AAC.
Kings are still masters abroad
Trevor Moore scored twice and the Los Angeles Kings won their eighth straight on the road with a 4-1 victory over the Arizona Coyotes.
The California team became the fourth team in history to win the first eight games of the season on the opponent’s courts. The Buffalo Sabers (10) in 2006-07, the New Jersey Devils (9) in 2009-10 and the Predators (8) in 2018-19 are the other three teams to accomplish this feat.
Anze Kopitar and Philipp Danault scored the other two goals for the Kings. Pheonix Copley was solid in front of the Kings cage with a 29 save performance.
Matias Maccelli was the only one to beat Copley scoring his 4th goal of the season. Connor Ingram suffered the loss with just 21 saves.
Drew Doughty passed Dave Taylor for third in team history by playing in his 1,112th game with the Kings. In front of him are Kopitar (1,308) and Dustin Brown (1,296).
Prince Harry dropped the puck at a Canucks game
Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, officially dropped the puck at a Vancouver Canucks game in preparation for the 2025 Invictus Games.
The Canucks hosted the San Jose Sharks on Monday. His grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, had the puck dropped during a game between the two teams 21 years ago.
Harry is the founder and patron of the Invictus Games Foundation, which runs an international multi-sport event for injured and ill military personnel.
Harry attended the match alongside wife Meghan Markle, local Indigenous leaders, Prime Minister David Eby and Minister for Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport Lana Popham.
Rogers Arena will host the closing ceremonies of the 2025 Invictus Games, which will be held in Vancouver and Whistler, British Columbia.
The games will be held from February 8 to 16, 2025.
