Burrow was injured in the first half of the Bengals’ 34-20 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night.
The quarterback suffered from a calf injury throughout the season, but still played in all of his team’s games. Burrow has missed just one game since the 2021 season after leading the Bengals to two AFC Championship games and a Super Bowl appearance.
Despite everything, Zac Taylor declared that “the season is far from over” in his press briefing on Friday afternoon.
Browning, who was never drafted in the NFL, was a member of the Bengals’ 2021 practice squad before taking over the backup job from Trevor Siemian last training camp.
His first NFL start is expected to be Nov. 26 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Cincinnati is 5-5 this season and is in last place in the excellent AFC North division.
The NFL is investigating why the Bengals didn’t report Burrow’s wrist injury after he was photographed with a splint protecting his right arm upon his arrival in Baltimore.
