When Montembeault declines Swayman’s invitation

Brendan Gallagher got two good blocks from Jeremy Swayman after contact with the Bruins goalie in the third period. If he had seen Gallagher’s face up close, Swayman would have liked to see that of goaltender Samuel Montembeault on the other side of the ice.

“I saw him waving at me,” Montembeault said. He wanted me to leave, but I didn’t want to. I told Martin (St. Louis) that I wasn’t hitting hard enough anyway. I think the defeat will hurt him even more.”

“I put my hands up to show him I was there,” Swayman admitted in an interview with colleague Jonathan Bernier and other Boston scribes. But nothing happened, there’s no point in talking about it.”

At the heart of this feud, Brendan Gallagher refused to reveal the content of his conversation with the Bruins masked man.

“If I had to sum it up, I’d say I told him he was wrong,” Gallagher replied, smiling. But you can read all the details in my biography, which will be published in ten years!”

Aside from this blown call, Montembeault had a strong game with 25 saves.

“We beat the Bruins on Saturday night and the Alouettes won and got to the Gray Cup, it was a really great day for Montreal fans.”

Montembeault watched parts of the Alouettes game late in the afternoon while eating a bowl of grau. Winning recipe for number 35.

Guhle’s courage

Kaiden Guhle revealed the rivalry with the Bruins for the first time. Injured at the end of the season, he has yet to play against the Massachusetts team. He organized himself so that this first meeting would not be forgotten with the winning goal in overtime, an assist on Gallagher’s goal, five blocks and +2.

“I’m even happier with the blocked shots, we had to kill that three-on-five,” Guhle said. I wasn’t the only one defending shots, Kovy (Kovačević) did the same.

Guhle once again showed his courage by getting in the shot of David Pastrnak, one of the brightest scorers in the NHL.

“Is it scary? And yes and no, he answered. It hurts even more when you see the puck in the goal.”

“He’s been playing like that since he made the jump to the NHL last year,” Gallagher added of Guhle. He is our key defender. He played the whole match. When you look in the dressing room before the game, you know you can count on him, no matter who the opponent is.”

Good old Gallagher

Still used on the right wing of the third line alongside Sean Monahan and Tanner Pearson, Gallagher gives the impression of a player who has been completely reborn this season. He now has five goals and eight points after 14 games.

“It’s great to see him play this way,” Guhle said. Gally (Gallagher) has had a tough season with injuries. He is healthy and having fun on the ice.”

“Since the beginning of the year, Gally has looked a lot like the same player we’ve seen here in Montreal for a long time,” added St-Louis. He is in good physical and mental condition. The NHL is not an easy league, it is difficult to play when you are not at 100%. I am happy about his success on the scoresheet. But there are many things about Gally that cannot be read on the scoreboard.
