The greatest player in Dallas Stars history, Mike Modano, will be honored once again when the organization unveils his statue outside the American Airlines Center in March.
The Texas organization made the announcement on Monday during a game against the New York Rangers. On March 16, Modano will be the second person to receive a statue near the amphitheater, after Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki.

The Stars have already retired their former captain’s number 9, three years after he announced his retirement. Selected first in the 1988 draft by the Minnesota North Stars, the American spent a little over 20 seasons with that organization. He then finished his career in the jersey of the Detroit Red Wings.
Modano leads franchise history in games played (1459), goals (557), assists (802) and points (1359). He also helped the Stars win the Stanley Cup in 1999.
