Russian heavyweight Arslanbek Makhmudov returns to the ring on December 23, again in Saudi Arabia, and will face German Agita Kabayel.
At least that’s what reports the well-known boxing journalist Dan Rafael.
Makhmudov (18-0-0, 17 KOs), who has been in Montreal for several years, will perform at another gala event featuring mostly heavyweights. Two of the biggest stars in the division, Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder, are set to work this gala night, but without boxing against each other.
Kabayel (23-0-0 15 KOs), who is 31 years old, is currently the European heavyweight champion.
The last fight of Makhmudov, 34, is recent: he was knocked out. from the first round to American junior Anthony WrightOctober 28 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
This would be the third fight in less than six months for “Lova”, who is still looking to climb the world rankings to fight for a world championship.
Englishman Tyson Fury and Ukrainian Oleksandr Uysk were supposed to participate in the ceremony on September 23 in the fight for the unification of four world heavyweight belts. This fight, however, was postponed until at least February after Fury fought much harder than expectedOctober 28, against former mixed martial arts champion Francis Ngannou.
According to Rafael, there will still be some details that need to be finalized before the December 23rd gala is formally announced.
