Lowry saves the Jets from the Lightning


Adam Lowry tied the score 1:39 into overtime and the Winnipeg Jets won their fourth straight game, 3-2, against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday.

Lowry scored from the left side of the circle after receiving a pass from Neal Pionko.

Connor Hellebuyck stopped 29 shots in front of the Jets net. Other scorers for the Manitoba club were Josh Morrissey and Mark Scheifele.

Steven Stamkos and Brayden Point responded for the Lightning, who had won their previous three games. Jonas Johansson made 29 saves.

Hellebuyck made a nice save on Nikita Kucherov, then frustrated Brandon Hagel on a layup 18 seconds into the first period. Morrissey then opened the scoring 59 seconds later.

Stamkos cut the Lightning’s deficit to 2-1 late in the first period. He scored his 198th career power play goal, tying Brian Bellows for 20th in NHL history in the feat.

Point tied the game at 2-2 in the second period. Johansson kept the Lightning in it with a nice save against Cole Perfetti.
