Laval Rockets defenseman Jayden Struble will pay dearly for his involvement in the skirmish at the end of Sunday’s game against the Manitoba Moose, as he was handed a three-game American Hockey League suspension the next day.
As a result, the No. 2 pick in the 2019 National League draft had to forfeit Monday’s games against the farm club Winnipeg Jets, whom his team defeated 6-2 the day before, as well as Wednesday and Friday’s games at Place Bell against the Belleville Senators and Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
Struble had a disagreement with forward Jeff Malotta at the end of the last clash. The referees awarded him a foul for leaving the bench and a minor penalty for rudeness and unsportsmanlike conduct. For his part, the color bearer of the Moose received a one-game suspension.
The Rocket guard has one goal and three assists in 11 appearances this season. He will be able to return to action on Saturday when his team visits the Utica Comets.
