Jaroslav Halak spoke with the Oilers

The Edmonton Oilers need a (good) goaltender. I’m sorry to destabilize you so violently this morning, but I am the bearer of truth this Wednesday morning in November.

We know that Oilers management is looking specifically at Montreal to see if there is a way to deal with the Canadian, who has a surplus of goaltenders.

We shouldn’t doesn’t necessarily expect Jake Allen to go to Alberta and I don’t know how realistic it is that Samuel Montembeault or Cayden Primeau go to Edmonton, but hey.

In fact, we should expect the Edmonton Oilers to be the talk of the town with a goaltending surplus… and even those that don’t have a surplus.

But we must not forget that not all available goalkeepers are under contract. Jaroslav Halak, who is no longer in the Hurricanes’ environment after spending time at the club’s training, is free as air.

And apparently, the Oilers have been talking to the goalie clan.

Pierre LeBrun, who reported the news on the sidelines of the segment Insider tradingconfirms that one should not think that the former goalkeeper of the Canadiens will end up in Edmonton. Just the opposite.

But the option is interesting for a club that must necessarily find a goalkeeper.

In fact, Halak left the Hurricanes because the Carolina club wanted to see him play a few games in the AHL, a matter of getting back into rhythm after months of inactivity.

But the guard didn’t want to.

That doesn’t mean he won’t end up in Carolina: The door is still open. But that means he can talk to other teams there to see if he can play in the NHL this season. And clearly, the Oilers are a possibility.

The Oilers’ No. 1 plan would undoubtedly be for Jack Campbell to have success in the AHL, the one who finally did well down there last night…but let’s just say nothing is less certain at this point.

A lots of

– For those who want to go through the wall.

– All the better: he doesn’t have to do that.

– He is capable of doing more.

– Patrice Bergeron is enjoying his retirement.
