Hockey: Adam Johnson bought his girlfriend a ring

The sudden and traumatic death of hockey player Adam Johnson, the victim of a serious neck cut during a game in England on October 28, will forever mark his sport, and even more so his loved ones, especially his wife, for whom this passing is heartbreaking.

The Nottingham Panthers coloursman, who was given the skate of Sheffield Steelers’ Matt Petgrave before he bled to death, had planned the big moment.

According to what USA Today has learned from two friends of the couple, the 29-year-old athlete bought an engagement ring intended for his longtime girlfriend Ryan Wolfe. In fact, the former National Leaguer got his hands on the prized item before jetting off to Europe ahead of the current season.

The American newspaper adds that Johnson’s girlfriend discovered the ring in his absence in their apartment, after the player’s family broke the news.

“We were all excited because we couldn’t wait to see their future together, and he didn’t get the chance to make a big proposal. Then this incident happened,” the deceased’s aunt, identified as Kari, told the English news agency SWNS.

Furthermore, an arrest was made on Tuesday in connection with the tragedy. The defendant was released on bail the next day.
