For the third year in a row, the Quebec public can see hockey player Cole Caufield in a commercial for McDonald’s restaurants, but this time he shares the spotlight with a famous face from the local art colony to promote a rather tasty hamburger.

So since Tuesday, number 22 of the Montreal Canadiens has been glorifying the maple BBQ quarter pounder with bacon on the small screen and radio, and he can count on actor Claude Legault for that.

He’s also been involved in several campaigns to sell the virtues of Quebec maple in recent years, and his fans will see a nod to that television past that Legault himself evokes during the thirty-second segment.

After polite greetings in French from Caufield, the actor calls the narrator of the advertisement to ask him about the reasons for his presence in his house.

As a “maple specialist,” Legault also questions the choice to rely on a raider to taste a new dish.

“This year, it’s a source of great pride to bring two of the locals’ favorite personalities together around a stellar quarter-pounder made from 100% Canadian maple, an offering that has everything to please,” explained Melissa Hains, Chief Marketing Officer, McDonald’s Canada, in a press release. .

Through the publication available in digital format, the company wanted to connect three elements that Quebecers appreciate, namely hockey, maple and actor, she recalled. This is the 12th McPlayer™ campaign, with previous appearances by Brendan Gallagher, Jonathan Drouin, Max Pacioretty and Shea Weber, among others.

For those interested, the burger in question is on offer for a limited time. Along with Canadian beef, it’s topped with creamy maple BBQ sauce, hickory smoked bacon slices, crispy onions, melted cheddar and pickles.
