Carey Price deserves to be in the Hall of Fame

The discussion is interesting. Does Carey Price deserve to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame one day or not? For a long time I wondered if he had done enough to receive this honor.

However, in my opinion, now that goaltenders Tom Barrasso, Mike Vernon and Henrik Lundqvist have received the honor, there’s little doubt that Price will join them when it’s his turn.

This opinion is not partisan or emotional. It is unbiased and fact-based. If Barrasso, Vernon and Lundqvist are in the Temple, Price deserves to be as much.

This is going through my head.

Price doesn’t have Barrasso’s two Stanley Cups, but he does have the Hart Trophy. Both have the Vezina Trophy, Jennings and about the same number of wins.

Price doesn’t have Vernon’s two Stanley Cups and Conn-Smythe, but he does have the Hart Trophy, Vezina and Lester B. Pearson (Ted Lindsay).

But for me the best comparison remains the one with Henrik Lundqvist. Price and Lundqvist did not win the Stanley Cup, but both won the Vezino Trophy once. Price boasts that he has the Hart Trophy that Lundqvist does not. The latter has nearly 100 more wins, but Price has played 175 fewer games.

From 2010 to 2020, Price and Lundqvist were the two most dominant goaltenders in the NHL. During that span, Lundqvist is third in wins (299), with Price following in fourth (280).

If Barrasso, Vernon and Lundqvist are there, Price becomes, in my opinion, a must-have. What do you think ?
