MONTREAL – Reigning IBO world super middleweight champion Osleys Iglesias has joined Eye of the Tiger Management, the Montreal boxing promoter announced Tuesday morning.
Iglesias, a Cuban lefty, won the title by defeating Andrii Velikovsky by knockout. in the 10th round of the championship fight, which took place on December 9, 2022. He then successfully defended his title against the German Artur Reis with a knockout. in the 4th round of the fight, which took place on October 7 in Magdeburg, Germany.
Since his major league debut where he won the 168 lb division, he has managed to rise to the 14th position in the world according to Boxrec, while also winning titles such as WBO World Youth, IBO International, WBA Inter -Continental.
“With only nine fights, Iglesias is already the IBO world champion and has already beaten veteran Isaac Chilemba. Although he is still very young, he has already defeated, among others, the current WBA champion David Morello. He is left-handed, strong and has excellent technique. Iglesias has all the tools to reach the heights of the super middleweight division,” said EOTTM Director of Development and Recruiting Marc Ramsay.
“It was unthinkable to miss a talent like Iglesias, so we took the opportunity. He is a complete boxer, who stood out in the amateur ranks, and who continues to fight among the professionals even though he is the IBO champion at only 25 years old,” added EOTTM president Camille Estephan.
Iglesias, who moved to Germany full-time after turning pro in 2019, also has 200 amateur fights, including 184 wins.
