Logan Mailloux had a goal and an assist, and Laval rocket defeated the Manitoba Moose 6-2 on Sunday.
The Rocket is still in last place in its division after only this third win of the season, in 11 meetings. These two teams will meet tomorrow, still in Winnipeg.
Jakub Dobes was beaten twice by Jeff Malott in 25 throws, including once by surprising him after a mistake by a teammate. However, Dobes did not finish the match for an unknown reason. Strauss Mann took over midway through the third period and blocked two shots.
It was Mailloux who got the ball rolling thanks to a good shot from the blue line after 47 seconds of play.
Less than three minutes later, Tobie Bisson scored his first goal of the season to double the lead off a Jan Mysak rebound.
Nathan Légaré also opened his scoring with a no-play goal to make it 3-0. He intercepted a pass at his own blue line before crossing the ice to beat Oskari Salminen to his right.
A Brady Keeper error finally put the Moose on the board. The goalkeeper tried to clear his net, but the puck was deflected off the stick of Jeff Malott and then behind Jakub Dobes.
Rocket quickly moved on after the first pause. Joshua Roy ended a six-game hitting streak to improve to 4-1. He has also been excluded from the goalscoring list in the last five games.
In this first day for several Rockets players, Jared Davidson added more with his first pro goal, assisted by Mailloux. It was the second game in a Rocket jersey for the 2022 CH fifth-round pick. Sean Farrell rounded out the scoring.
