After 16 games, Pierre-Luc Dubois’ effort was criticized in Los Angeles

The case of Pierre-Luc Dubois was the most talked about in the four corners of the National Hockey League this summer.

And I don’t think it’s really necessary to recall all the details of this somewhat funny story.

The Quebecer now finds himself in Los Angeles, with a club that has the talent to go all the way. The Kings selected him because they believed Dubois would add raw talent and depth to the center position, which makes sense as the player has some top skills in his tool bag.

But we see those qualities when Dubois wants to do his best… And therein lies the problem.

His inconsistency has been criticized in the past while playing for the Blue Jackets and Jets. Things are no different now that he is wearing the colors of the Kings.

Los Angeles sports reporter Helene Elliott threw him under the bus for the lack of effort we’ve seen from Dubois since the start of the season:

Pierre-Luc Dubois has nine points (five goals) in sixteen games this season with his new team.

We are talking about “correct” production, nothing more… Especially in the context when Quebecers earn 8.5 million dollars a year.

But points don’t matter if a player gives the desired effort every other game. Dubois has what it takes to be useful to his team: he is big, has great offensive qualities and can be responsible on the ice at a defensive level.

Things are looking up for Dubois and the Kings as Rob Blake (GM) could start losing his hair very soon.

Alex Iafallo, who was acquired by the Jets in a trade, is used everywhere in Winnipeg because he does things the right way. The former Kings forward is having his best offensive season (13 points in 17 games), and Gabriel Vilardi has played just three games so far for the Jets, who have a record of 10-5-2 since the start of the campaign.

It’s too early to draw conclusions, but at this point we can believe the Jets got the trade.
