A helping hand to two local student-athletes

SPORTS. Two young student-athletes from the Drummondville region are among 35 scholarship recipients as part of the seventh 808 Bonneville Challenge.

Training taekwondo, Léanne Gaudreault received a $2,000 scholarship. The 17-year-old Drummondville resident was crowned Canada’s junior champion in the 46kg category earlier this year. He studies dental hygiene technology at the Cégep de Trois-Rivières.

For his part, a baseball player Felix Gosselin inherited a $4,000 scholarship. Playing mostly third base, the 16-year-old athlete is a member of the Canadian Baseball Academy (ABC) while attending Antoine-de-Saint-Exupéry High School.

Held on September 15th and 16th in Mont-Tremblant, the seventh 808 Bonneville Challenge raised $152,500. Since the charity event’s inception in 2017, scholarships totaling more than $1 million have been awarded to approximately 400 young student-athletes. (JH)
